When life gives you lemons,
make lemonade!
How have you used your circumstances to make lemonade out of lemons?
“In high school my mom unfortunately lost her job due to health reasons, so finances were a major issue. Going to an expensive school like Prep and Creighton didn’t seem to be on my radar, but I used that as fuel to do the best I could do in all aspects of my life, especially academically. Because I used that as fuel, I was able to receive scholarships to both schools, not only succeeding for myself but my mom as well.”
“I’m a pianist in my free time. I’ve played since I was a very young child, around 6 years old. I was able to convert this into a very fulfilling income stream by combining my passions with my skills. I’ve done weddings, events, and even the Creighton business ball!”
“I branched out of my comfort zone and tried a new club on campus. This club led to my first internship.”
“I used my passion for sneakers to kickstart TNKR, my platform that connects sneakerheads with professionals that clean, restore, and customize shoes.”
“I accepted an offer at Creighton when it was a job I wasn’t excited about. But then I realized I loved working with students. Inspired by my students and my job, I went back to school for a master’s degree in Higher Education.”
